Ben,
Fantastic write-up... I'm entered for the 2008 edition and have some questions about GPS for the event. Do the organizers provide waypoint locations before the event that you program into a topo (on, say, a Garmin 705) or do most people using GPS there just using it for the data logging function?
Thanks,
Greg

A Realistic $250K First Year Income Potential

Less than four years ago I was driving this beat-up '94 VW with a rusty muffler. Within two years of creating this system I was making more than my doctor, accountant, and attorney COMBINED... while working less than 40 hours a week FROM HOME! Together with my group of leaders we are now seeking qualified entrepeneurs sharein the incredible results of our system.

Nice write up. I particularly relate to stage 5. Some of our bikes rolled in at 5:00 am. I helped two people tear down and stuff bike boxes while the taxis where waiting, 15 minutes later and these guys would have missed there flights. I think I had a 30 hour day and I hadn't even left San Jose yet.

Did you get gps for day 3 and 4? My garmin shizzled itself on day 3. I guess 2 meters deep waterproof doesn't mean rain for 10 hours or frequently slammed into knee deep mud.

If you did get it, I don't have anything to trade as your day 1 and 2 are the same trackpoints as mine, except somewhat faster.....Actually way faster. Anyway just trying to complete a google earth overlay for my kids. Found a day 3, but still need a day 4.

Side note: Don't you think it is odd about this race that you just can't really explain it to anyone? I mean you can write. Meaning you personally can write creatively and in an entertainment sort of way and you nailed the highlights...the problem is, no one "gets" it unless they actually experience it first hand.

Again - nice write up. I love reading everyones points of view from something as monster epic as "la ruta".

happy trails.
